Live with HoZ on MTV | Directed by Chris Aran
Live by HoZ is being released on MTV. The latest video off the album 8th Wonder features HoZ taking on the roles of multiple hard working individuals with the goal of having each character portrayed in as few edits as possible. The concept was worked out over several creative meetings and took one week to prep.
Live was lensed by cinematographer Jon Fordham and shot in New York City. Mostly filled with local New Yorkers, HoZ interacts with real people pulled off the street to participate, leaving a sense of neighborhood authenticity. With the desire to use local businesses in the neighborhoods he grew up in, the video pays respects his past and looks forward to future success.
Live also features a small cameo by the Vine artist C-LO who gives a bit of his signature grin to keep things fun.
Chris Aran and future HoZ projects beyond Live
The music video was produced by long time friend and co worker Sway Mendez who’d produced music videos for major acts like Ricky Martin and Jennifer Lopez. Several years ago while working together on a video set, he introduced me to Mario Gonzalez who eventually reached out to me asking for help on one of HoZ’s earlier projects. I agreed and had a pretty good time shooting some inserts they needed.
After that experience, both HoZ and Mario liked my ideas and my approach to making videos so they asked if I would be interested in doing something new for HoZ‘s latest album and Live was born. In his own words, this is HoZ thoughts about music and his process.
My goal is to show people who I am and what I’ve been through using my music. Sometimes I’m serious and other times I like to have fun and bug out, but the main goal is to portray both sides of me while still keeping it lyrical.
With Live freshly distributed, the music video was intended to be the first of several collaborative projects between Chris Aran and HoZ. With more songs off the 8th Wonder Album to come, the summer is sure to see another video soon.
