Morning Glory released it’s latest video Punx Not Dead, I Am from the album War Psalms on VICE directed by Chris Aran. Punx is filled with a party atmosphere and entertaining vignettes of what life’s like for anyone who’s lived in low income housing.
Introduced by Jimmy McMillan, known for the rents too damn high movement, the concept was a creative collaboration between Aran and the bands front man Ezra Kire.
Lensed by longtime music video Cinematographer Jon Fordham, the video brings its fans into the mix as the party participants and creates a fun atmosphere thats sure to keep heads moving.
In addition to the bands longstanding members Ezra Kire, Adam Schrager, Heavy Metal Chris and Shawn Gardiner, the video includes a heavy hitting guest performance by Brian Viglione from the Dresden Dolls and Violent Femmes.
Morning Glory’s War Pslams
Punx Not Dead, I Am is the first of two videos off the War Pslams album that will have been a collaborative effort between Chris Aran and Ezra Kire. With the running momentum of the lyric video for the song Standard Issue, Punx Not Dead, I Am is officially the second song off the album to have a viewing audience.
War Psalms has had a great response throughout the Punk scene and unlike much of today’s single serving tracks, the album as a whole has many relevant messages that will easily transition to the next generation. A wonderful review by John Gentile and Ricky Frankel over at punknews.org elaborates on the band, the album and what the music has to say.
The Next Chris Aran Project with Morning Glory
While Punx is being digested by audiences, the next video off the War Psalms album entitled I Am Machine Gun is midway through post production and is looking great. A departure from the fun and comedic atmosphere that Punx displayed, Machine Gun approaches the image acquisition from a much darker perspective and brings more serious themes to its audience.
Although completely different in style, Punx and Machine Gun were shot over the course of three days with the same crew.
Morning Glory is signed to Fat Wreck Chords.
With the Vice Noisey release of Punx Not Dead, I Am Morning Glory is excited for the next video directed by Chris Aran from their album War Psalms coming soon.
