An ongoing photography series of people by Chris Aran whose photographs have been shot from locations around the world while working in film, TV, and independent exploring. Shooting stills can fine tune the craft of storytelling through still images.
People in photography – Images by Chris Aran
I wanted to have a place to share some of the moments I’ve had the pleasure and sometimes sheer luck of capturing. As a filmmaker, I spend most of my time trying to translate a story and emotion into moving images. Getting the camera from point A to point B in the most effective way possible to move an audience. Photography has provided an added challenge.
Sometimes, trying to figure out how to tell that story through one single image, is a great challenge to give yourself. I personally feel like it helps to compose the best frame possible because you only have one moment to get your point across. And narrowing your options sometimes helps to shed away ideas that can sometimes be superfluous.
The images I’ve shared above were either great people I’ve met or great faces I’ve had the chance to capture. It’s hard to sum up the entire experience with these people in just one image, but thats the goal I’m trying to reach by adding photography to my toolkit as a director.
